Fast: Day 6 (34 days to go!) - 11 lbs lost so far

Jack LaLanne's Power JuicerI lost 1.4 pounds, so that makes it a total of 11 pounds lost. Yea! Yea! Yea!

We didn't juice today. We intended to but instead kept putting it off and ended up not doing it at all. If I had gotten hungry, I would have insisted we juice but I felt content all day long.

I spent (what seemed like) the whole day making potato salad and beans for our family get-together tomorrow at Mom's. We're celebrating my middle brother, Drew's, 41st birthday. My mom's house will be overflowing with family members (30 in all) so I had to make a lot of potato salad and beans! Whenever my family gets together, we always decide on a food theme and then everyone brings a couple of dishes and we have a feast. Tomorrow, the theme is barbecue. The table will be filled with barbecue chicken, brisket, sausage links, potato salad, beans, cole slaw, rolls, jalapeno cornbread, chocolate sheet cake and some other cake Mom is making.

Too bad all I'll be doing is smelling delicious food and not eating it. Oh, well... such is life. That's the thing about fasting - life continues to happen: family get togethers, coworkers bringing donuts or cupcakes to work (not to mention the community drawer full of candy bars), having to prepare family meals at home etc.

I can handle it. If I didn't think I could, I wouldn't go. All I have to do is put some gum in my mouth before I go into Mom's house and keep a bottle of water in my hand.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone - including my first cousin, Andrea, her husband, three sons, daughter-in-law and two-week-old grandson. It'll be a good time.

Until tomorrow...

Today's Stats

Weight: 229.8 / Total Lost: 11 lbs.

Wow that is amazing willpower. I don't think I could even cook nice stuff without eating it let alone go somewhere with lots of food and not eat. My family would not let me do that.

Rachel - Willpower yes, but after the first 3 days of fasting, hunger actually goes away so it wasn't difficult at all. I know what you mean about family pressure to eat. No one noticed I wasn't eating except my Mom and she said, "Sis, aren't you gonna eat?" I told her I wanted to feed Brady first. I was glad I didn't have to tell anyone I was fasting. Mom would understand because she has fasted many times but she wouldn't like me missing out on the big family feast.

Raquel - Thanks! :) I appreciate it.
